Just a couple of things I thought I might share with you.
I am growing a tomato plant. I am not a gardener but I decided this year to try and grow tomatoes in a pot on my back deck. Imagine my excitement about the number of tomatoes I already have. I have 10 in various sizes! I get laughed at by B and my children because I am so excited that I count them everyday.
I have a birdhouse next to my front door. I first put it up 4 years ago and within a month a wren couple moved in and built a nest. After their eggs had hatched, they and their family flew away. In the Fall, around October, I put all the deck furniture away for the winter and that includes all the birdhouses on my house. I put this one in the garage careful not to disturb the nest inside. The following Spring I put it back next to my front door along with all my deck furniture. Imagine my surprise when the wren couple were back and moved in. Now I have been doing this every year. I put the birdhouse with its nest in my garage in October and then put it back out in Spring and within a month, they are back to use it again. I feel like I have the wrens' summer home on my deck.
This is my deck swing where I sit on the mornings (weather permitting) with my coffee and in the evenings (weather permitting) with an occasional glass of wine. Although I enjoy the quiet and solitude living on farmland with no close neighbors, sometimes I put in my earbuds and listen to music as I enjoy the scenery around me. Some of my favorite music to listen to at these times are: "Be Not Afraid", "On Eagle's Wings", "He Raised Me Up", "For the Beauty of the Earth","You've Got a Friend" (by James Taylor), "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" (by Simon and Garfunkel), and Instrumentals of Hymns of Nature.
These are just some tidbits I thought you might enjoy reading on a Tuesday.
