November begins...

Halloween was a rainy and cold evening.  We did not get any trick or treaters so B got to eat the candy he had purchased.  He liked that.  We have not had trick or treaters for about 4 Halloweens now.  We live on farmland so most of the time when we had trick or treaters, they were driven by someone to the house.  Most of the time, they came just to see where their teacher lived while I was still working.

The weather is typical of November here in the Upper Peninsula...cold, windy and rainy with a few snowflakes thrown into the mix.  Temps range from below freezing to the 50s, if we're lucky.

I turned the clocks back Saturday night before bed.  I have been reading how people have a difficult time with the time change.  B and I seem to do just fine.  Go figure.

Monday, B and I went to the medical center as I had to have blood drawn for my PTH labs.  I dislike getting blood taken because I have veins that give the nurses a hard time to find to get the needle in.  It sometimes takes 4 to 5 jabs before they get the vein by which time, I am a stressed out mess.  This time, the nurse did it so well, I had to ask her if she got the needle in which she had.  I hope I get her every time I have to do this.  Hopefully, the results will show some improvement with the PTH.

I am starting to get the house ready for the upcoming holidays.  A lot of cleaning and furniture moving.  B will be taking the bed quilts to the laundromat because they are too bulky for our washer.

I have started to fill up the pantry and freezer for the holidays.  Not much to do there as I work on this throughout the year.

B is starting on his last run of the season over the leaves with the lawnmower as the rest of the week is supposed to be cold, rainy and more snow is coming in over the weekend.

Winter is coming and I am not happy about it.

November ended on a low note

(This picture always makes me smile)

November was going along quite well.  I was looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas (being that Christmas is my favorite holiday).  However, life had a different plan for me.  B and I went to get our annual Covid vaccines fully expecting to have sore arms for a couple of days like last year. We got the vaccines on a Friday and were surprised that Saturday and Sunday we had no soreness.  We were considering ourselves lucky this year.  I was feeling a bit tired and had a mild headache but I assumed that was my covid side effect instead of the sore arm.  Within 4 days, I had developed a terrible migraine that wouldn't go away, pain in my left lower jaw, pain in my lower back and between my shoulder blades.  I got scared and called my doctor.  When she heard the symptoms, she told me to have B take me to the emergency room immediately.  Which I did. We arrived at 10:30am and I began to go through a battery of tests.  Not only were my symptoms concerning but my blood pressure had skyrocketed to 230 over 90.  On top of all that, there is a history of heart disease in my family.  I went thru every test and scan and xray they came up with.  I saw three doctors, all of who told me something different.  Two told me it was Afib while one said it was a side effect from Covid.  Then they told us I would have to stay in the hospital until they could get the blood pressure down and run more tests.  By the time they put me in a room on the cardiac floor, it was 11pm.  I had made B go home at 7pm because I didn't want him on the roads in the dark.  We live an hour from the hospital.  I called him when I finally got a room and he said he had called the boys and let them know what was happening. The next day there were more tests.  I was scared, irritable (hospital beds are not comfortable) plus I hadn't eaten for two days as they said eating was not good for the tests.  Finally they concluded it was a bad reaction to the Covid vaccine and let me go home.

I slept for almost two days in my own bed (so comfy) and enjoyed some light meals.  I had to start taking my blood pressure every day at home and try to alleviate stress as much as possible (ha ha fat chance that happening).  I have a followup appointment with my doctor next week.

So this long winded explanation has been to let you know why I haven't been on here much in the last few weeks.  I hope to do better in the future.

God bless all of you.

November Visitors

When we woke this morning, we found 15 of these wild turkeys having a nice morning meeting in the front yard.
