Tuesday Tidbits

It seems that some spring weather is coming to the UP.  No snow for the last few days and the temperatures have been in the 30s and 40s.  So B and I decided we needed to get out of the house for a few hours to enjoy a nice day.  Friday, we went to Escanaba.  It's a one hour drive and the weather was lovely.  We went to a few stores we like and then had lunch before coming home.  It was a relaxing and nice day even if it was just for a few hours.

Of course, with the weather getting better, we now have a dirt road which is really bad.  The thaw has made such deep ruts that it is barely passable.  B had to drive practically onto the next field in order for us to get home around an exceptionally bad section of road.  We have called the county to get something done about it.  We hope the neighbors also call because we have a school bus that comes down the road every day.  We have not received mail for four days so far as our mail lady uses her own car to deliver mail and I am sure she doesn't want to try to get thru the ruts.  The downside of rural living, I suppose.

The thaw is also causing large areas of water around the foundation of the house, so B keeps checking the basement for leaks.  so far so good.

Nice things about this time of year is waking up with the sun as the days start earlier and earlier.  I like that more than waking in darkness.  My cat Al enjoys more sun as he loves to lay on the table by the front window, napping in the sunshine and keeping an eye on the birds and squirrels who are visiting the feeders.  Speaking of birds and squirrels, it probably sound strange but I name my birds and squirrels.  B says it sounds like I am getting old.  Lots he knows.  I have the Magoo family which are 6 morning doves which visit every day, Mr and Mrs Blue Jay, Ralph Kramden (the Honeymooners TV Show) for a very chubby brown squirrel and Winston for a very large gray squirrel.  My sons say I have been in the house too long this winter.  Funny kids.

B broke his back tooth in half and we had to take an emergency run to the dentist.  It seems it is a much bigger deal than we thought.  The half will have to be removed surgically and then his bridge will have to be redone.  Suffice to say, it will be an expense we didn't plan on.

We are supposed to get a snowstorm this Friday.  March came in like a lion and it seems it is going out the same way.  At least, it is going out.  Another month closer to warm weather, we hope.

  1. Ouch sorry about the unexpected dental bill. I have the same here. An old crown needs to be replaced and that will cost a bit. I also need to go to see a specialist re an infection I have around the dead root of another crown. Not happy, but what needs doing, needs doing.

Like you we are hoping for warmer weather very soon.

    God bless.
