Turns out that this month is starting out with repairs/replacements. The TV in the bedroom gave up the ghost on Sunday. Since we just put out money to fix the dryer, we can't afford a replacement just now. So B and I are sharing the one in the livingroom. It's going okay except we decided we needed to figure out how to get another before Christmas. Our taste in tv programming is not as compatible as we thought.
We have a new grandkitty: Sandwiches (my son chose the name)is only a few months old but is being a little pistol with the other 3 older kitties.
We went to the eye doctor for annual checkups. For me, my cataract is getting a little worse, dr says I can have the removal whenever I want. I said as long as I have the old man as a chauffer, I am in no hurry to have surgery. B has already had one removed about 2 years ago. He needs to do the other in the spring.
I dropped off book donations for the library book sale at the end of the month. Found a fascinating book on how dna was used to identify the Goldenstate Serial Killer. I prefer non fiction books but occasionally get a fiction. B dropped me off at the library while he went to the post office. I went in, returned my books and then looked around while I waited for him to come back for me. I had just walked up to the desk to check out my books when I saw him standing there talking to the librarian and heard him say with a smile, "I should know better than to leave her in the library alone." B knows me too well.
Purchased a loaf of Caraway Rye bread at a Mennonite Bake Sale booth at the recent city wide flea market. Tastes great toasted with cream cheese. I also purchased a slo cooker cookbook from the same booth. I love my slo cooker and am always looking for new recipes to cook in it.
Enjoying the abundance of visitors to the feeders on the front deck: mourning doves, blue jays, chickadees, wrens, woodpeckers, chipmunks, squirrels
I've started working on genealogy again but have hit a major roadblock on my father's side of the family. Very frustrating.
We had a two day heatwave of 90 degrees and 100% humidity. I don't mind it during the day but when it interferes with sleep, that's when I get annoyed. We are now back to Upper Peninsula weather of mainly the 60s. They are also saying that our color peak this year looks to be earlier than in the past. We already have trees turning into autumn colors.
I think that's enough for the first week of September.
