Thursday, it took some bribery to get our cat Al into his carrier for his vet appt. He was not happy with the car ride but quiet down once we got there. He is in good health and took his shots like a champ. Then I asked the vet to help me get him back into the carrier. When the vet opened the door, Al just walked in, calm as you please, and laid down. I think I saw him smile as he made mom look bad in front of the vet. Little stinker.
B and I were not in the mood for a big dinner on Friday so we had breakfast for dinner instead.
Saturday went to the store because they had turkey breasts on sale and picked up two. We use them at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The best thing about the shopping was not just the turkey breasts on sale but we collected holiday points as well. With enough holiday points we can purchase a ham, turkey or prime rib. We usually save our points until January (they are good until the middle of January) and replenish our freezer from the holidays.
Sunday, B and I were able to get both front and back decks cleared of the summer furniture. All of it went into the garage which now has plenty of room since the guys came and cleared out all the junk.
Monday, B finished up the last of the wood, getting it cut and stacked in the garage. With winter coming, it pays to be ready in case of power outages which usually happens at least 3 times a winter.
Wednesday, B and I went to look at a small snowblower for the decks. At our age, it is getting harder to shovel and dump the heavy wet snow over the railing. We went to look at one that was posted for sale. It was 18" wide which is a perfect size for the decks. It was listed for half of what we would pay in a big box store. B checked it out and said it was a good deal, so now we have a smaller snowblower for the decks.
B and I have decided to not watch any network news anymore. We will watch local news and that's all. A month of 24 hours on the Israeli War on CNN plus the inept members of Congress plus the mean and cruel people of this world have been quite enough. Isn't there any good news anymore? Why can't there be a focus on the good and kind things that some people are doing these days? I am reminded of a line from the movie "Justice League" where Batman/Bruce Wayne is talking to Alfred, his butler, telling him about all the bad things happening around the world and Alfred says, "I don't recognize this world anymore." I'm with Alfred. I don't recognize it either.
I no longer recognize this world either. In fact there are times I don't recognize my own country.
ReplyDeleteSounds as if you are getting ready for winter very quickly. Is your small snowblower electric or gas?
God bless.
The small snowblower is gas which is B's preference. We are getting ready for winter fairly quickly because in the Upper Peninsula you never know when it will begin.
DeleteHello! I no longer watch the news either. I agree with the quote. It is almost like living in a bad movie. I hope you have a cozy evening.
