The First Full Week of January
I came up with my words for 2026 "Calm and Patience". I think these are appropriate for me as I work on them constantly but have never really focused on them. I have found that my mantra for when I need them is "calm and patience, Ellen, calm and patience".
All of the Christmas decor has come down and been put away for another year. Anything that I no longer want, I have put in the donation bag. Perhaps someone else will enjoy using them.
B and I found a new local grocery store where food prices are more reasonable. We are always looking for ways to save money, so this is a good find.
Since retiring, B and I have leased our car instead of buying one. We do not put a lot of miles on the car as we don't go back and forth with work everyday and we limit any long trips to once or twice a year. We have been driving a 2022 Equinox which we really like. This year our lease is up in February and we were all set to lease another Equinox. However, we found out that the new Equinox has the shifter on the steering wheel instead of the floor. B prefers the shifter on the floor. The saleswoman showed us a Chevy Trail Blazer which has the shifter on the floor and all the extras that the Equinox had that we liked. It is smaller than an Equinox but that is okay as there is just the two of us using the car. The added bonus to the new car lease is that the monthly payment is down $50 monthly from previous lease. We were so pleased about everything that we did all the paperwork and brought the new car home on Thursday.
This past weekend, the weather was terrible. Another winter storm which gave us rain, ice and about 1 foot of snow. A number of trees came down in the woods behind our house but nothing too close. Thank goodness.
We stayed inside this weekend and watched US figure skating. I was happy to see Chock and Bates win a 7th US title in ice dancing and Amber Glenn won for women's single. B and I are looking forward to February when the Olympics start. We enjoy watching the competitions.

Sounds like you did great with the car! So nice to have that taken care of and with lower costs too.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a crazy winter in the lower peninsula, but nothing like you've had up there. Last week we actually had a thunderstorm, the type that shakes the house. There was wind and rain all night and in the morning, the snow was melted. Then the next day we got ice and 5 inches of snow. Today on our way to church there was a huge rainbow - and it was snowing. So weird for January.
Have a great week~!
Love your meme. It was quite nice here today, but because of the melting the ice is now under a skiff of water making it doubly hard and dangerous to walk.
ReplyDeleteWe had a Trail Blazer many years ago and really liked it. I hope you enjoy the new vehicle.
God bless.
